cl- about the book

It was over before it began.

A druid woman and a Fae man—we were two people from different worlds, only by chance did our paths happen to cross. He was beautiful and damaged and totally captivating. If only I could have continued to buy into the propaganda of fear and hate my people had taught me about the Fae, then maybe I would have believed him to be the savage he appeared to be.

Instead, I offered the cryptic man my help. The time I spent with him allowed me to see the man he was behind the chiseled, formal exterior. What developed between us was tender, intimate, and totally unexpected.

My druid family was not as enlightened as I was. My mom didn’t want me near the Fae; she certainly never would have understood that I had developed feelings for a Fae man. I tried to keep my private life a secret. I tried to keep the peace, but my mother’s threats and intolerance left me with no choice. I had to make the hardest decision of my life. I had to leave the only family I’d ever known. I just never imagined what I’d face when I didn’t make it out in time…

cl- my review
The Fae Games series has been a series filled with twists and turns from the get-go. The first two books lay down the foundation with Rebecca Peterson traveling to Belfast, Ireland with the dream of working at a local museum. Once believed to be a normal human woman, she discovers the world of the Fae and finds out her part in a brewing Fae war.
The third book is more of the first book part 2 where it focuses on Ashley, Rebecca’s best friend, who originally traveled to Belfast with Rebecca to get her settled in before going back home. However, it appeared the Fae world is also influenced by Ashley’s presence through Michael, Rebecca’s boyfriend Lochland’s right hand man.
Fast forward to book 4, we are now turning our attention to Cat, the druid witch who works with Rebecca at the museum. Her family was once hunted and murdered by Fae and the remaining members went underground, disguising their identities and practicing their magic in secret. Cat has tried to keep her head down, adhering to her mothers’ rules and staying out of Fae issues that seem to haunt Rebecca’s door. Tried.
Enter in Fen, recently released from his Shadow Play prison, who once saw Cat as a reincarnated version of the human who was the perpetrator that had him sent to prison in the first place. Time is a funny thing though as Fen gets over his pre-conceived notions as him and Cat begin to fall in love, putting Cat in a very tough place. Her mother is terrible, let’s get that out there right now. She’s overbearing, controlling, and many other words that I could list but don’t have time too. She is arranging a marriage between Cat and another druid male who has nefarious plans in store for Cat.
I fell in love with Fen and Cat’s romance and enjoyed continuing to explore the Fae Games world. This addition is a step up from the others. I think it’s because I instantly wanted to get to know more about Cat from minute one. She’s snippy, witty, and you cannot help but want the best for her.
Definitely pick up this series! You won’t be disappointed!
